Dear Friends "I'm humbled by the tremendous encouragement I've received from citizens and community leaders all across the district to run for the seat Rep. Bob Sump is leaving. I'm honored that so many folks in Northeast Washington have faith and confidence in me to represent them in Olympia. Over the past fourteen years, I have had the privilege of working for three outstanding leaders: Congressman George Nethercutt, Congresswoman Cathy McMorris-Rodgers and State Representative Joel Kretz. I have worked extensively on regulatory issues at the state and federal levels, especially those affecting small business, private property rights, agriculture, water, timber, forest health and wildfire fighting, access to health care, economic development, power generation, and recreation. I am concerned that the level of taxation, regulation on business and private property and unbridled spending in this state is at an all-time high. The state's lack of prioritized spending will continue to hurt individuals, families, our schools, our roads, our health care and our most vulnerable citizens if not put in check. It's got to stop. This state doesn't have a revenue problem, it has a spending problem. Why send me to Olympia? Because I have been the person folks came to when they needed help. People know my work ethic, knowledge of issues and track record in getting things done. I also have a great working relationship with our current legislators. As your next Representative in Olympia, I'll continue to fight to hold government accountable and find common-sense approaches to solving problems. I hope I can count on your support for my election. Please feel free to contact me at (509) 935-4085 if you have any questions or wish to volunteer. Thank you for the privilege of serving you and for your continued support and prayers. Shelly Short |

Our Kick-Offs Were A Great Success! We had over 200 people attend our kick-off events and we raised over $20,000 in donations. I would like to thank everyone who worked so hard to make our kick-offs such a success. I am so honored by the love and support that all of you showed me and my family at our kick-off celebrations in both Omak and Colville. Omak Barbeque at Bob & Ronna Tollefson's: I would like to thank Bob and Ronna for opening up their beautiful home and hosting a barbeque for me. It was a privilege to visit with so many wonderful people. I would like to say a special thanks to Jim Detro, Jim & Cheryle Rowland and Jerry Tretwold for working so hard to help with the barbeque and providing such incredible support for our campaign. Omak Kick-Off at the Elks Lodge: Thank you to everyone who came to our Wednesday night kick-off celebration at the Elks Lodge. My family and I enjoyed meeting everyone; we had a blast visiting with old and new friends! Thank you to everyone who donated dessert items for the auction and a special thank you to Celia Campbell for donating one of her paintings. I would also like to send out a special thank you to Representative Mike Armstrong and Representative Bruce Chandler who both drove a very long distance to be at my kick-off. Thank you both so very much. Colville Kick-Off: I would first like to thank former Congressman George Nethercutt for coming to my Colville kick-off. As always, George was a statesman and a class act. So many people enjoyed visiting with George again and it was such a honor to have him speak in support of our campaign. I was excited that my mom and brother were able to drive up from Spokane to be at my event. Again, thank you to everyone who came and who donated dessert items for the auction. We all had so much fun; I was so happy to see everyone there! |
